I would love to see them brought back!
I always wanted one soo bad. It didn't even matter which, although Molly's Christmas dress is my absolute favorite. I remember seeing one of hers at a used children's clothing store when I was about 13, I wanted it so bad, but my mom said no. I can't even remember why she said no, it was being sold for 40 bucks, so it wasn't that it was too much. My mom doesn't even remember this, nor can she remember why she said no, either!
I keep hoping I'll run into one at another used children's clothing store, but no dice yet.
At 19, I would fit into an XLarge, and I would still love to have one. But, looking at the old catalogs with them in it, all I can think is "what the heck would I do with it?" I'd wear it around the house, most certainly. But, unless it was like Molly's Christmas dress, or Addy's Meet or Christmas, I can't see an "adult" woman wearing one without looking totally silly.
I would like to know if they sold well. They were quite expensive, and I'm sure there were many higher end people who bought AG stuff in the 80s and 90s, it seems a ridiculous waste of money for 1 dress that really can't be worn at much more than halloween, or for just plain old pictures.
I'm very glad they kept the matching girls' pajamas. I still love Samantha's, but I can't picture myself wearing it, lol. I will deffinitly be getting the star pajamas, though.
Remember last year, they came out with a coat that matched Samantha's new one? I was hoping this year would see a brand new Red Cardinal Cape in girls' sizes, but it looks like that's not going to happen. I hope they do put out some dress like Felicity item, I have to say I'd be tempted to get one, even if I only wore it around the house!

Get this...
I went to the children's used store near me, Buffalo Exchange, they're actually a really good used clothes store.
They had the old AG tennis outfit, in girls' size medium, I bought it and a Felicity Theatre set for 12 bucks together.
I asked if they get AG stuff in a lot, she said they did, and I asked about the historical girl sized dresses. She said they had one in recently with the doll in the matching outfit, and they sold it for......EIGHTEEN DOLLARS. Now, the doll, and the outfit would have been in very good condition or they wouldnt have taken it.
Needless to say, I gave her my name and number and asked her to call me whenever they got ANY AG stuff in, lol!

Cami - that will be great if they call you!
There is a seamstress on this board who does wonderful work with the matching outfits. I can't remember her user name right now, but maybe someone reading this post will remember it. Her dresses are just as pretty as the AG ones. Several of our members have posted pictures of their daughters in the matching dresses.
I love the matching outfits, too. My daughter doesn't have any of the historical ones, but she does have the petal pink Christmas outfit that matches her doll's outfit and the light blue Coconut PJs with the dolly matching one. It is so cute to see them in their matching clothes. There is a picture of my DD matching her doll in the Cafe album in my signature.
There are several e-Bay seamstresses that do a nice job. Since they are unique items and not on anyone's wishlist, I will post the links.

Unless you happen by an auction where someone is selling a dress of Kirstens or Samantha's etc... that fits a girl where you will pay a major pretty penny for it, I'm guessing that is the only way to get the matching historical clothes for my daughter.
is there any hope of them making the historical clothes to fit our girls, ever again????????
Interested in what you all think. Wonder if you hope for the same thing!

When I was a little girl one of those dresses is what made me fall in love with pleasant company. But I never got one. They were just to expensive.
I would love to see them brought back, but I don't think it will happen. They were to expensive to be "big sellers" even though I really believe girls loved them. I also think they appealed to the lower end of the target for the dolls, because even though AG has defied what age plays with dolls, I think the older girls playing with the dolls are less likely to dress as them.
Write letters to AG, and lots of them. You may someday get your wish.

Wow, Thank you for posting those links! The quality of work is really something else. I was very impressed!
I think it will double as a Halloween costume too!
